1. Insert Basic Shapes
Entry point:
- Insert tab → Shapes
- Home tab → Insert → Shapes
- Open the document you want to edit.
- Click Shapes on the Insert tab, or go to Home → Insert → Shapes.
- Select the shape type you want from the drop-down panel, such as a rectangle, circle, or arrow.
- Click and drag in the document to draw the shape at the size and position you want.
- Release the mouse to finish inserting the shape.
Success Criteria
- UI state: The selected shape appears in the document and shows adjustable control points.
- Next actions: You can continue moving, resizing, or editing the style.
Tips While Using
- Common mistakes: If you do not drag inside the editable document area, the shape may not be created at the intended size.
- Environment limits: In collaboration mode, keep the document editable while you work.
2. Edit Shape Styles
Entry point: Select a shape to show the floating toolbar or the related Object Editing entry.
- Click an inserted shape in the document.
- Open the related Object Editing options.
- Set the Fill and Outline properties.
- Adjust Text Box alignment or auto-fit settings as needed.
- Use the control points around the shape to adjust size, direction, or some line curvature.
Success Criteria
- UI state: The shape style changes, and the fill, outline, or text box settings are updated.
- Next actions: You can continue typing in the shape, moving it, or changing the style again.
Tips While Using
- Common mistakes: If the shape is not selected first, the style editing entry will not appear.
- Environment limits: Complex shadow and 3-D effects may be limited in collaboration mode.
