1. Insert a Divider

Entry:

  • Home tab → Insert → Divider
  • Insert tab → Divider
  1. Place the cursor where you want to insert the divider.
  2. Click the Home tab and open the Insert drop-down menu, or open the Insert tab directly.
  3. Select Divider.
  4. Choose the divider style you want.
  5. Click to insert a horizontal divider line into the document.

Success Criteria

  • A horizontal divider line appears at the current cursor position.
  • The divider separates the content above and below it.
  • The divider remains available for color changes or deletion later.

Tips While Using

  • A divider occupies a full line and cannot stay on the same line as regular text.
  • Confirm the cursor position before inserting so the divider appears in the correct paragraph area.

2. Change Divider Color

Entry: Insert tab → Divider → Divider Color

  1. Select the divider line that has already been inserted.
  2. Click Divider on the Insert tab.
  3. Select Divider Color.
  4. Choose a standard color, or click More Colors to set an RGB value.
  5. Confirm that the divider color has updated.

Success Criteria

  • The selected divider line shows the new color.
  • Other document content stays unchanged.
  • The divider can still be edited or deleted afterward.

Tips While Using

  • The default color is black.
  • Select the divider first, or the color command may not apply to the target object.

3. Delete a Divider

Entry: Right-click menu → Delete

  1. Select the inserted divider line.
  2. Right-click the divider to open the floating menu.
  3. Select Delete.
  4. Check that the divider has been removed from the document.

Success Criteria

  • The target divider disappears from the page.
  • The original text remains editable.
  • The page returns to a layout without that divider.

Tips While Using

  • Make sure the correct divider is selected before deleting it.
  • For more complex page layout needs, use section breaks when appropriate instead of relying only on line breaks.
