1. Open COM Add-ins

Feature entry: Developer → COM Add-ins

  1. Make sure the Developer tab is already enabled.
  2. Click the COM Add-ins button on the Developer tab.
  3. Wait for the COM Add-ins window to open.

2. Add a COM Add-in

Feature entry: Developer → COM Add-ins → Add

  1. Open the COM Add-ins window.
  2. Click Add.
  3. In the file picker, locate the .dll or .xlam add-in file that you want to add.
  4. Select the file and click Open.
  5. In the add-in list, select the checkbox for the new item to enable it.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The new add-in appears in the list.
  • What you can do next: You can enable it and continue using the related extension features.

Tips While Using

  • Make sure the selected file comes from a trusted source and is intended for your environment.

3. Disable or Remove a COM Add-in

Feature entry: Developer → COM Add-ins

  1. Open the COM Add-ins window.
  2. Find the target add-in in the list.
  3. Clear its checkbox to disable it temporarily.
  4. Select the add-in and click Delete to remove it from the list.

  • Interface result: After you clear the checkbox, the add-in is no longer enabled, or after deletion it no longer appears in the list.
