1. Switch Window Management Mode

Entry: Global Settings button in the upper-right corner → Settings → Switch Window Management Mode

  1. Open the WPS desktop client.
  2. Click the Global Settings button in the upper-right corner. Its icon is ≡.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the settings page and click Switch Window Management Mode.
  5. In the dialog box, choose the target mode:
    • Integrated Mode (Default): different document types can appear in the same window, and documents can still be split into multiple windows.
    • Multi-Component Mode: different document type tabs are placed in different windows.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Restart the WPS client to apply the change.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: after restart, the window layout follows the mode you selected.
  • Next action available: you can continue opening Writer, Spreadsheet, and Presentation files and check the new layout.
  • No side effect: the switch changes window organization only and does not change document content.

Tips While Using

  • Restart the WPS client after switching modes, or the change will not take effect.
  • Save and close current files before switching to avoid affecting unsaved work.
  • Integrated Mode is the default mode, while Multi-Component Mode is more suitable when you prefer separate windows by document type.
