How-to Guide
1. Apply italic from the toolbar button
Entry point: Home → Italic
- Select the cell you want to format, or double-click a cell and select only part of its text.
- Click the Home tab at the top of the window.
- In the font toolbar, click the italic I button.
- The selected text changes to italic immediately. Click the button again to remove italic.
Success Criteria
- The selected text appears in an italic style.
- Clicking the button again returns the text to regular formatting.
Tips While Using
- If you only want to format part of the text, enter cell editing mode first.
- If the cell is not editable, the formatting button may not take effect.
2. Use the keyboard shortcut for italic
Entry point: Keyboard shortcut Command + I
- Select the target cell, or select part of the text while editing the cell.
- Press
Command + I. - Check whether the text has switched to italic.
- To remove italic, press
Command + Iagain.
Success Criteria
- The selected content switches to italic immediately after the shortcut is used.
- Running the shortcut again removes italic formatting.
Tips While Using
- If another app or system setting uses the same shortcut, make sure WPS Spreadsheet is the active window.
- For partial text formatting, enter editing mode before selecting the text.
3. Apply italic from the floating toolbar
Entry point: Select content → right-click → floating toolbar
- Select the text content in a cell.
- Right-click to open the floating toolbar.
- Click the italic option on the floating toolbar.
- Check whether the text now shows italic formatting.
Success Criteria
- The floating toolbar appears after you right-click.
- Clicking the italic option changes the style of the target text.
Tips While Using
- The floating toolbar is useful for quick formatting on the current selection.
- If the option does not appear, use the top toolbar or the keyboard shortcut instead.
4. Apply italic from Format Cells
Entry point: Right-click → Format Cells → Font
- Select the target cell or range.
- Right-click and choose Format Cells, or press
Command + 1. - Open the font settings and choose an italic style.
- Click OK to apply the change.

- The Format Cells window opens and shows font-related settings.
- After confirmation, the target cell text appears in italic.
Tips While Using
