How-to Guide
1. Apply italic to cell text
Entry: Home tab → Italic button (I icon)
- Open the spreadsheet and select the cell you want to format.
- Tap the Home tab.
- In the font formatting area, tap Italic.
- Check whether the text in the cell is now displayed in italic.
Success Criteria
- The text in the selected cell appears in italic.
- You can continue editing, entering content, or saving the spreadsheet.
Tips While Using
- Italic changes only the text style and does not change the cell data itself.
- Italic can be used together with bold formatting.
2. Remove italic from cell text
Entry: Home tab → Italic button (I icon)
- Select a cell that already has italic formatting.
- Tap the Home tab.
- Tap Italic again.
- Confirm that the text returns to a non-italic style.
Success Criteria
- The existing italic effect is removed.
- Other text content and data remain unchanged.
Tips While Using
- If a cell contains mixed formatting, the result may differ from applying one style to the entire cell.
3. Apply italic to part of the text in a cell
Entry: Double-tap a cell to enter editing mode → select text → Home tab → Italic
- Double-tap the target cell to enter text editing mode.
- Select the part of the text you want to emphasize.
- Tap the Home tab.
- Tap Italic.
- Tap another area to review the partial italic effect.
Success Criteria
- Only the selected part of the text appears in italic.
- Other text in the same cell remains unchanged.
Tips While Using
- If you do not enter editing mode first, the formatting usually applies to the whole cell text.
- Different fonts may show slightly different italic angles.
