1. Insert a Floating Picture
Entry path: Insert → Picture → Floating Picture
- Go to the area where you want to place the image.
- Click the Insert tab at the top of the window.
- Click Picture and choose Floating Picture from the drop-down menu.
- In the file browser, find and select the target image.
- Click Open to insert it.
- After insertion, drag the corner handles to resize the image, or drag the image itself to move it.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The picture appears in the worksheet above the cells.
- What you can do next: You can continue moving or resizing the picture.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If you do not confirm the target area first, you may need to reposition the picture after insertion.

2. Insert a Cell Picture
Entry path: Insert → Picture → Cell Picture
- Select the target cell where you want the image to be embedded.
- Click the Insert tab at the top of the window.
- Click Picture and choose Cell Picture from the drop-down menu.
- Select the target image from cloud documents or local storage.
- Insert the image. It will fit the cell and stay associated with that cell.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The picture appears inside the selected cell.
- What you can do next: When you resize the row or column, the picture display changes with the cell.

- Common mistake: If you do not select the target cell first, the image may be inserted in an unexpected place.

3. Change Pasted Image Settings
Entry path: Insert → Picture → When pasting pictures from external sources
- Click the Insert tab at the top of the window.
- Click Picture and choose When pasting pictures from external sources.
- In the side menu, choose the default behavior, such as Floating Picture by default or Cell Picture by default.
- After that, pasted images in the worksheet will follow the selected default behavior.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The next pasted image follows the current default setting.
- What you can do next: You can switch the default paste behavior again whenever needed.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If you change the setting but do not paste another image, you will not see the effect immediately.
