1. Apply a cell fill color

Entry path: Bottom toolbar Home → Fill Color

  1. Select the cell range where you want to apply a background color.
  2. Tap Home on the bottom toolbar.
  3. Tap Fill Color to apply the current available cell fill color.

Success Criteria

  • The selected range shows a visible background color change.
  • Text and data in the cells remain visible and editable.
  • Only the background appearance changes, not the spreadsheet content.

Tips While Using

  • Select the target cells before applying Fill Color.
  • Fill Color is a visual format and does not affect filters, text content, or formulas.

2. Choose more preset colors

Entry path: Bottom toolbar Home → Fill Color → Palette

  1. Select the cell range where you want to change the background color.
  2. Tap Home on the bottom toolbar.
  3. Tap Fill Color.
  4. Tap Palette on the far right.
  5. Choose another color from the palette.

Success Criteria

  • The palette opens normally.
  • The selected range uses the newly chosen background color.
  • The color change is visible immediately in the current spreadsheet.

Tips While Using

  • To keep a consistent table style, reuse the same color across related cells.
  • After applying a dark background color, check whether the text is still easy to read.

3. Remove a cell fill color

Entry path: Bottom toolbar Home → Fill Color → No Fill

  1. Select the cell range that already has a background color.
  2. Tap Home on the bottom toolbar.
  3. Tap Fill Color.
  4. Tap the No Fill (∅) icon to remove the fill color.

Success Criteria

  • The selected cells return to their default background appearance.
  • Existing data, text, and formulas remain unchanged.
  • Other unselected areas of the spreadsheet are not affected.

Tips While Using

  • No Fill removes only the background color and does not delete cell content.
  • If the sheet uses many colors, clear them by area to avoid removing the wrong formatting.
