How-to Guide
1. Highlight Duplicates
Entry point: Data tab → Duplicates → Highlight Duplicates
- Select the cell range where you want to check for repeated content.
- Click the Duplicates button on the Data tab.
- Select Highlight Duplicates.
- Choose a highlight color in the dialog box.
- Review the cells that are filled with color as duplicate entries.
Success Criteria
- UI state: Cells with duplicate data are marked with the selected color.
- Next actions: You can continue filtering, reviewing, or removing duplicates.
Tips While Using
- Common mistakes: If you do not select the target range first, the duplicate check may not run on the data you expect.
- Environment limits: Duplicate checks use exact cell content matching, so only fully identical content is treated as a duplicate.
2. Remove Duplicates
Entry point: Data tab → Duplicates → Remove Duplicates
- Select the data range that contains duplicate data, preferably including headers.
- Click Duplicates and then select Remove Duplicates.
- In the dialog box, select the columns that should be used to judge duplicates.
- Click OK. WPS keeps the first occurrence and removes later duplicate rows.
- Review the result message to confirm how many duplicate entries were removed.
Success Criteria
- UI state: Duplicate rows are removed and a result message appears.
- Next actions: You can continue saving, analyzing, or exporting the cleaned spreadsheet.
Tips While Using
- Common mistakes: If the wrong columns are selected, the removal result may not match your expectation.
- Environment limits: Check the result right away after removal. If needed, use Command+Z promptly to undo the change.
