How-to Guide
1. Set a Column Type
Entry: Column floating menu → More Actions → Column Type
- Open a Smart Spreadsheet and tap the target column header, such as A, B, or C.
- In the floating column menu, tap More Actions.
- Tap Column Type.
- Select the type you want. The setting takes effect immediately.
- Available types include Date, Checkbox, Progress, Time, Cell Image, Email, and URL.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: the current column shows the selected type style.
- Next action available: later entries in this column follow the selected display or validation rule.
Tips While Using
- One column can use only one column type at a time. Choosing a new type replaces the previous one.
- URL entries can be opened directly after input.
- Email, Date, and Time types apply matching format checks.
2. Set the Start Row
Entry: Column Type settings page → Set Start Row
- Open the Column Type settings page first.
- Tap the Set Start Row input box.
- The default value is 2, which means the rule starts from row 2 while row 1 is usually the header row.
- Change the starting row number as needed.
- The change takes effect immediately.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: the column type applies only from the selected starting row.
- Next action available: header rows or note rows can remain unchanged.
Tips While Using
- If the first rows are used for titles, notes, or merged areas, increase the start row value.
- This setting helps preserve header structure while still applying a column rule to data rows.
3. Clear a Column Type
Entry: Column floating menu → More Actions → Column Type → Clear
- Tap the header of a column that already has a column type.
- In the floating column menu, tap More Actions.
- Tap Column Type.
- Tap Clear in the upper-right corner.
- The column returns to a normal text column.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: the column no longer shows the previous type-specific display style.
- Next action available: the column can be edited as a normal text column.
- No side effect: existing data remains in place after the type is cleared.
Tips While Using
- Clearing a column type removes the validation and display rule, but does not delete entered content.
- If needed, you can assign a new column type again after clearing it.
