1. Apply Common Border Types

Entry: bottom toolbar → Tools → Home tab → Borders area

  1. Select the cell range where you want to add borders.
  2. Tap Tools at the bottom.
  3. Open the Home tab.
  4. In the Borders area, select the border type you need.
  5. Apply outside borders, inside borders, all borders, or bold border lines as needed.

Success Criteria

  • On-screen result: the selected range shows the border effect you chose.
  • What you can do next: you can continue changing colors, adjust other formatting, or save the file.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: if you do not select cells first, the border effect may not apply as expected.
  • Environment note: the spreadsheet must be in editable mode.

2. Change Border Line Color

Entry: bottom toolbar → Tools → Home tab → color option under the Borders area

  1. Select the cell range that needs border color changes.
  2. Tap Tools and open the Home tab.
  3. In the Borders area, tap the color option below the border controls.
  4. Select the border line color you want.
  5. Apply a border type again so the selected color is used on the current border.

Success Criteria

  • On-screen result: the border lines appear in the selected color.
  • What you can do next: you can switch to another color or apply a different border type.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: if you only choose a color but do not apply a border type again, the new color may not appear immediately.

3. Remove Existing Borders

Entry: bottom toolbar → Tools → Home tab → Borders area

  1. Select the cell range that already has borders.
  2. Tap Tools.
  3. Open the Home tab.
  4. Open the border-related options.
  5. Select No Border.

Success Criteria

  • On-screen result: the existing borders in the selected range are removed.
  • What you can do next: you can apply a new border style or save the file.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: if only part of the intended range is selected, only borders inside that selection will be cleared.
