  5. Press Enter to return the result in the cell.

Success Criteria

  • On-screen result: The target cell shows a calculated result.
  • Next action available: You can continue editing, copying the formula, or saving the file.

Tips While Using

  • Start the formula with =.
  • Keep parentheses paired correctly.
  • Enter parameters with the current separator used in your sheet.

2. Check syntax guidance and parameter requirements

Entry point: formula bar

  1. Select the target cell.
  2. Type =ACOTH(.
  3. Check the syntax guidance that appears automatically.
  4. Review the parameter requirement and example, then continue entering the formula.

Success Criteria

  • On-screen result: Syntax guidance appears near the editing area.
  • Next action available: You can continue completing the formula with the prompt.

Tips While Using

  • If no prompt appears, re-enter the function name and confirm that the opening parenthesis is included.
  • For longer formulas, use the formula bar so the full expression is easier to review.

3. Use cross-worksheet references in a formula

Entry point: formula bar

  1. Select the cell where you want the result to appear.
  2. Start the formula with =ACOTH(.
  3. At the parameter position, reference the target cell or range from another worksheet.
  4. Complete the closing parenthesis and confirm the formula.
  5. Press Enter to return the result.

Success Criteria

  • On-screen result: The result cell returns a calculated value.
  • Next action available: You can change the referenced data and continue checking the updated result.

Tips While Using

  • Confirm the target worksheet and cell location before inserting the reference.
  • If the referenced content format is not suitable for calculation, the result may not match your expectation.

4. Update results automatically after source data changes

Entry point: a result cell that already contains the ACOTH formula

  1. First complete the ACOTH formula.
  2. Change the source data used by the formula.
  3. Check the value in the result cell.
  4. If needed, select the formula cell again to review the updated result.
