How-to Guide
1. Create a Text Field
Entry point: the + button on the right side of the header → Field Type drop-down list → Text field
- Click the + button on the right side of the header.
- In the field type list, select Text.
- Enter the field name.
- Click OK to finish creating the field.
Success Criteria
- UI state: A new text field column appears in the data table.
- Next actions: You can open field settings or enter content in the new column.
Tips While Using
- Common mistakes: Closing the window before confirming the field name will stop the field from being created.
- Environment limits: Open an editable data table view first.
2. Set a Default Value
Entry point: right-click the field title → Field Settings → Default Value
- Right-click the text field title.
- Select Field Settings.
- Find Default Value in the settings panel.
- Enter the preset content.
- Save the setting so new records can use the value automatically.
Success Criteria
- UI state: The default value is shown in field settings.
- Next actions: When you add a new record, the field can display the preset content automatically.
Tips While Using
- Common mistakes: Entering a default value without saving the setting means new records will not fill it automatically.
- Environment limits: Default values are field-level settings, so you need permission to edit the field.
3. Turn On Duplicate Prevention
Entry point: right-click the field title → Field Settings → Do Not Allow Duplicate Entries
- Right-click the text field title.
- Select Field Settings.
- In the settings panel, turn on Do Not Allow Duplicate Entries.
- Save the setting.
- If duplicate content is entered later, the system clears it and prompts you to revise it.
Success Criteria
- UI state: Do Not Allow Duplicate Entries is enabled in field settings.
- Next actions: When you enter duplicate content again, you receive a prompt and need to revise it.
Tips While Using
- Common mistakes: If duplicate data already exists, later entries may still require manual cleanup.
- Environment limits: Only one text field in a table can use duplicate prevention.
4. Enter Text Content
Entry point: target cell → type directly
- Click the target cell in the text field column.
- Enter text, symbols, or a long numeric identifier directly.
- Press Enter to confirm the entry.
Success Criteria
- UI state: The entered content appears in the target cell.
- Next actions: You can continue editing the next row, save, or filter by this field.
Tips While Using
- Common mistakes: If you enter data that needs calculations into a text field, it cannot be used directly in numeric calculations.
- Environment limits: Long numeric identifiers are suitable for text fields, but they do not participate in sum or similar calculations automatically.
