1. Insert a separator line from the Insert tab
Entry path: Insert tab → Separator Line
- Place the cursor where you want to insert the separator line.
- Click the Insert tab on the top ribbon.
- Select Separator Line.
- A horizontal separator line is inserted at the current position.
Success Criteria
- On-screen result: A horizontal separator line appears at the cursor position.
- You can continue: You can keep typing or editing above and below the separator line.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If the cursor is not placed in the target paragraph position, the separator line may be inserted somewhere else.
2. Insert a separator line with quick commands
Entry path: Paragraph input → / → Separator Line
- Type
/in the target paragraph to open the quick menu. - Type Separator Line or fgx to filter the command.
- Select the separator line option to insert it.
- You can also type
---directly to convert it into a separator line automatically.
Success Criteria
- On-screen result: The typed command is converted into a horizontal separator line.
- You can continue: You can continue entering body text on the next line.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If
---does not convert, check whether the cursor is currently in an editable paragraph.
3. Add a separator line from the paragraph handle
Entry path: Left-side paragraph + → Separator Line
- Move the cursor to the position where you want to insert the separator line.
- Click the
+paragraph handle that appears on the left side of the page. - Find Separator Line in the drop-down menu.
- Click it to add the separator line.
Success Criteria
- On-screen result: A separator line is added at the selected position.
- You can continue: You can keep adding other blocks or rearranging nearby content.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If the paragraph handle does not appear, move the pointer to the left side of the target paragraph first.
4. Delete a separator line
Entry path: Select separator line → Delete / Backspace
- Click the separator line you want to remove so it becomes selected.
- Press Delete or Backspace.
- The separator line is removed.
- Check the surrounding content and continue adjusting the layout if needed.
Success Criteria
- On-screen result: The selected separator line disappears from the page.
- You can continue: The surrounding content remains editable and can be reformatted.
