When using Chapter Title, the most common questions fall into 3 areas: table-of-contents recognition, heading hierarchy, and heading updates; this FAQ also includes a short glossary.
FAQ
I applied a heading, but it does not appear in the table of contents. What should I do?
- Make sure the paragraph uses a formal heading style instead of only manual font size or bold changes.
- Check whether the heading is placed in the main body area of the document.
- If a table of contents has already been inserted, update it and check the result again.
How should I choose heading levels?
- Use H1 for the main document title.
- Use H2 for major sections.
- Use H3 for subsections, and continue to H4-H6 only when deeper structure is needed.
Can I change the level of an existing heading?
- Select the paragraph that already uses a heading style.
- Open the floating toolbar, ribbon, or another heading entry again.
- Switch to a different heading level, and the style will update.
