How-to Guide
1. Quickly add preset numbering
Entry path: Home / Text Tools tab → Paragraph group → Numbering drop-down arrow
- Double-click the text box on the slide to enter editing mode, then select the paragraph text that needs numbering.
- Click the Home or Text Tools tab on the top menu bar.
- In the Paragraph group, click the drop-down arrow next to Numbering.
- Select a preset numbering style such as Arabic numerals, circled numbers, Roman numerals, English letters, or Chinese numerals.
- Click the style you want to apply it to the selected text.
Success Criteria
- The selected paragraphs display the chosen numbering style.
- New paragraphs at the same level continue in sequence.
Tips While Using
- You need to enter text editing mode inside the text box before applying numbering.
- Numbering is calculated separately in different text boxes.
2. Customize numbering in the dialog box
Entry path: Home / Text Tools tab → Paragraph group → Numbering drop-down arrow → More Numbering
- Select the paragraph text that you want to format.
- Click the Numbering drop-down arrow and choose More Numbering.
- In the Bullets and Numbering dialog box, open the Numbering tab.
- Select the numbering style you want.
- Adjust settings such as size, Start at, and color as needed.
- Click OK to apply the changes.
Success Criteria
- The selected paragraph reflects the settings from the dialog box.
- The numbering style, color, or size matches the selected settings.
Tips While Using
- Confirm that the correct paragraph is selected before making changes.
- If the result is not what you want, open the dialog box again and adjust the settings.
3. Set the numbering start value
Entry path: Home / Text Tools tab → Paragraph group → Numbering drop-down arrow → More Numbering → Numbering tab → Start at
- Select the paragraph that already has numbering or is about to receive numbering.
- Open the Numbering menu and choose More Numbering.
- Find the Start at box on the Numbering tab.
- Enter the number you want to use as the starting value.
- Click OK to save the setting.
Success Criteria
- The current paragraph starts from the specified number.
- Following paragraphs at the same level continue from the new start value.
Tips While Using
- A custom start value is useful when you need to continue a list from an earlier section.
- Check the paragraph level before changing the start value to avoid confusion with another list.
4. Remove numbering
Entry path: Home / Text Tools tab → Paragraph group → Numbering drop-down arrow → None
- Select the paragraph text that already has numbering.
- Click the Numbering drop-down arrow.
- Choose None in the panel.
- Check that the numbering has been removed from the paragraph.
Success Criteria
- The numbering marker disappears from the selected paragraph.
- The paragraph remains as plain text.
Tips While Using
- If you only want to remove numbering from part of the content, select the exact paragraphs first.
- You can reapply any numbering style later if needed.
