1. Enter Slide Master view
Entry: Review → Slide Master
- Open the presentation that you want to edit.
- Click the Review tab.
- Click Slide Master to enter master editing view.

- Next action available: You can switch to the Slide Master tab and use Master Layout.

2. Open the Master Layout dialog
Entry: Slide Master → Master Layout
- In master editing view, click the Slide Master tab.
- Click the Master Layout button.
- Wait for the Master Layout dialog to open.

- Interface result: The Master Layout dialog appears.
- Next action available: You can review and change the checkbox status of placeholder elements.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If you are not in master editing view, the related button may be unavailable or hidden.
3. Set placeholder visibility
Entry: Slide Master → Master Layout
- In the Master Layout dialog, review the available placeholder elements.
- Select the placeholder elements that should appear in the master.
- Clear the placeholder elements that should be hidden.
- Confirm the settings and return to the master page to review the result.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The corresponding placeholder elements appear or are hidden in the master.
- Next action available: You can continue saving, close master view, or review related slides.
- No side effect: Other slides that do not use this master are not changed directly by the current setting.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: Clearing an important placeholder may remove an expected content area from related slides.
- Environment note: Changing the master layout affects the structure of all slides that use the current master.
