How-to Guide

1. Save from the menu bar

Entry: File menu at the upper left > Save

  1. Click the File menu at the upper left.
  2. Click Save.
  3. If this is a new presentation that has not been saved before, wait for the save dialog box to appear.
  4. Select the save location and enter the file name.
  5. Click Save to finish.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: After the first save, the file is written to the selected location.
  • What you can do next: You can continue editing the current presentation and save again later.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you do not choose a valid folder during the first save, the file cannot be saved successfully.
  • Environment note: The target folder must allow write access.

2. Save with the keyboard shortcut

Entry: Keyboard shortcut Ctrl+S

  1. Press Ctrl+S in the current presentation window.
  2. If the file has already been saved before, WPS saves the latest edits directly.
  3. If this is a new presentation, the save dialog box appears.
  4. Select the save location and enter the file name.
  5. Click Save.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: Changes are written to the existing file, or a new file completes its first save.
  • What you can do next: After saving, you can continue editing, presenting, or closing the file.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the WPS Presentation window is not active, the shortcut may not apply to the current file.
  • Environment note: The first save still requires you to choose a location and file name manually.

3. Save As to a new file

Entry: File menu at the upper left > Save As

  1. Click the File menu.
  2. Click Save As.
  3. In the dialog box, choose a new save location.
  4. Enter a new file name.
  5. Click Save to create the new file.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: A new file is created in the selected location.
  • What you can do next: You can continue editing the new file while keeping the original file unchanged.
  • No side effect: The original file is not overwritten by Save As.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the new file name matches an existing file in the same folder, you may need to confirm whether to overwrite it.
  • Environment note: When saving to an external drive or a restricted folder, make sure the path is accessible.
