1. Show or hide the ruler

Feature entry: View → Ruler

  1. Open WPS Presentation and go to the slide you want to edit.
  2. Click the View tab at the top.
  3. Find Ruler and click it to turn the ruler on or off.
  4. Check whether rulers appear at the top and left side of the editing area.
  5. After it is turned on, you can view the horizontal ruler, vertical ruler, and the zero point referenced to the center of the slide.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: A horizontal ruler appears at the top of the editing area, and a vertical ruler appears on the left.
  • Next action available: You can continue moving and adjusting text boxes, images, or other objects.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you are not in the presentation editing interface, you may not see the related entry.
  • Environment note: The ruler is displayed only in Normal view.

2. Toggle the ruler from the right-click menu

Feature entry: Right-click menu on a blank slide area → Ruler

  1. Right-click a blank area on the current slide.
  2. Find Ruler in the context menu.
  3. Click Ruler to turn the display on or off.
  4. Return to the editing area and confirm that the ruler state has changed.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The ruler display state changes immediately after you click the command.
  • Next action available: You can continue editing the slide without switching to another tab.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you right-click an object instead of a blank area, the menu content may be different.

3. Turn the vertical ruler off or on

Feature entry: File → Options → View → Vertical Ruler

  1. Click the File tab in the upper-left corner.
  2. Click Options to open the settings panel.
  3. Switch to the View section.
  4. Find Vertical Ruler and turn it on or off as needed.
  5. Click OK to save the setting.
  6. Return to the editing interface and confirm whether the vertical ruler is shown on the left.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The vertical ruler on the left is shown or hidden according to your setting.
  • Next action available: The horizontal ruler can still be used with your current editing workflow.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you do not click OK after changing the setting, the new state will not be applied.
  • Environment note: Check the vertical ruler display in Normal view.
