How-to Guide
1. Show or Hide the Ruler
Entry:
- Entry 1: View tab → Ruler
- Entry 2: Right-click a blank area of the slide → Ruler
- Open the presentation that you want to edit.
- Click the View tab at the top of the window.
- Click Ruler to show or hide the ruler.
- When the ruler is shown, you can see the horizontal ruler at the top of the editing area and the vertical ruler on the left side.
- If you prefer the shortcut menu, right-click a blank area of the slide and select Ruler to switch it.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: a horizontal ruler appears at the top of the editing area and a vertical ruler appears on the left; when turned off, they no longer appear.
- What you can do next: continue moving text boxes, images, or shapes while using the ruler as a positioning reference.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: if you are not in the presentation editing interface, you may not see the related entry.
- Environment note: the ruler is shown only in Normal view.
2. Turn the Vertical Ruler On or Off
Entry: File tab → Options → View → Vertical Ruler
- Open the presentation and click the File tab in the upper-left area.
- Click Options to open the settings panel.
- Switch to the View section.
- Find Vertical Ruler and turn it on or off.
- Click OK to apply the setting.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: when enabled, the vertical ruler appears on the left side of the editing area; when disabled, it is hidden.
- What you can do next: continue adjusting object positions with the vertical scale as a reference.
