How-to Guide

1. Add an icon description

Entry path: Right-click menu → Format Object

  1. Select the icon that needs a description.
  2. Right-click the icon.
  3. Select Format Object to open the Object Properties pane on the right.
  4. In the Object Properties pane, click the Size & Properties tab.
  5. Expand Alt Text and enter the title and description.
    • Title: Enter the shape title.
    • Description: Enter the shape description text.
  6. Click a blank area to save.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The Alt Text area shows the title and description you entered.
  • Next action available: When you select the icon again, you can still review and edit the saved text.

Tips While Using

  • Keep the description short and clear. In most cases, one sentence is enough to explain the icon’s meaning or purpose.
  • The description does not appear directly on the slide. It is stored as object information.
  • Decorative icons do not always need a description.

2. Set it from the side task pane

Entry path: Side task pane → Properties

  1. Select the icon that needs a description.
  2. Click Properties in the side pane.
  3. In the Object Properties sidebar, find the Alt Text area.
  4. Enter or edit the icon title and description.
  5. Click a blank area or continue editing another object to save.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: You can view the current icon’s alt text in the sidebar.
  • Next action available: You can continue editing other object properties in the same sidebar.

Tips While Using

  • If the icon is not selected first, the side property pane may not switch to the target object.
  • If the file contains many similar icons, select them one by one and enter the matching description for each one.
