1. Set animation timing

Entry path: Animation tab → Timing area

  1. Select an object that already has an animation.
  2. Click the Animation tab at the top of the window.
  3. In the Timing area, review and adjust Start, Duration, and Delay.
  4. Change the settings based on your presentation needs.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The Timing area shows controls for Start, Duration, and Delay.
  • Next action available: You can continue changing the start option, playback length, or delay value.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the object does not already have an animation, the timing controls may not work as expected.
  • Environment note: Select an object with an existing animation before making changes.

2. Set the animation start option

Entry path: Animation tab → Start drop-down button

  1. Open the Animation tab.
  2. Select an object that already has an animation.
  3. Click the Start drop-down button.
  4. Choose the start option you want.
  5. Switch between On Click, With Previous, and After Previous as needed.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The Start field shows the option you selected.
  • Next action available: You can preview the playback order or continue adjusting Duration and Delay.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If the wrong object is selected, the change will not apply to the intended animation.
  • Environment note: The object must already have an animation effect.

3. Set duration

Entry path: Animation tab → Duration input box

  1. Open the Animation tab.
  2. Select an object that already has an animation.
  3. Enter the animation playback length in the Duration box in seconds.
  4. You can also use the up or down arrow to fine-tune the value.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The Duration box shows the updated number of seconds.
  • Next action available: You can preview the speed change and continue fine-tuning the value.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Changing the value without previewing the result may leave the animation too fast or too slow.
  • Environment note: The setting applies to the currently selected animated object.

4. Set delay

Entry path: Animation tab → Delay input box

  1. Open the Animation tab.
  2. Select an object that already has an animation.
  3. Enter the waiting time before the animation starts in the Delay box in seconds.
  4. You can also use the up or down arrow to fine-tune the value.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The Delay box shows the updated number of seconds.
  • Next action available: You can check whether the object appears at the expected time together with the selected start option.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Ignoring the relationship between Start and Delay can produce an unexpected playback order.
  • Environment note: After changing the value, preview the result to confirm the final pacing.
