1. Open Password Protection
Entry: File → Document Encryption → Password Encryption
- Click File in the upper-left area.
- Select Document Encryption → Password Encryption.
- Select Open Permission Password, enter a password with at least 4 characters, and confirm it again.
- Click OK.
- Save the file so the password takes effect.
Success Criteria
- The file asks for the correct password the next time it is opened.
- The saved file remains in a protected state.
Tips While Using
- Passwords are case-sensitive.
- Keep a secure record of the password to avoid losing access.
- The password must be at least 4 characters long.
2. Edit Permission Protection
Entry: File → Document Encryption → Password Encryption
- Open File → Document Encryption → Password Encryption.
- Select Edit Permission Password, then enter and confirm the password.
- Save the file.
- Share the file if others only need to view the content.
- Enter the edit password when changes to the original file are needed.
Success Criteria
- The file can still be opened for viewing.
- Editing actions require the edit password.
- Without the edit password, changes cannot be saved back to the original file directly.
Tips While Using
- This option is useful when you want others to read the file without freely changing it.
- Users without the edit password may need to save a separate copy for their own edits.
3. Save-As Encryption
Entry: File → Save As → Encryption
- Click File → Save As.
- Click Encryption in the lower-left area of the dialog.
- Set an open password or an edit permission password as needed.
- Confirm the settings and click Save.
Success Criteria
- The newly saved file includes the selected password protection.
- Opening or editing behavior follows the password type you set.
