1. Trace Dependent Cells

Feature path: Formulas tab → Trace Dependent Cells

1. Select the cell you want to inspect.
2. Click Trace Dependent Cells on the Formulas tab.
3. Review the arrows that appear. The cells pointed to by the arrows are the dependent cells that reference the current cell.
4. Click Trace Dependent Cells again if you want to show more levels of dependency.

Success Criteria

• Interface result: Arrows appear in the worksheet from the current cell toward related dependent cells.
• Next action available: You can continue tracing more levels or switch to removing arrows.

Tips While Using

• Common mistake: If you do not select the target cell first, you may not inspect the intended dependency relationship.
• Environment note: If no formulas reference the current cell, the app will indicate that there are no formulas referring to it.

2. Remove Trace Arrows

Feature path: Formulas tab → Drop-down arrow next to Remove Arrows

1. Click the drop-down arrow next to Remove Arrows on the Formulas tab.
2. Select Remove Dependent Trace Arrows to clear only dependent tracing.
3. Select Remove Precedent Trace Arrows to clear only precedent tracing.
4. Select Remove Arrows to clear all trace marks at once.

Success Criteria

• Interface result: The selected trace arrows disappear from the worksheet.
• Next action available: You can run tracing again and continue checking other cell relationships.

Tips While Using

• Common mistake: Selecting Remove Arrows clears all current trace marks in the worksheet.
• Environment note: If there are no trace arrows to remove, you may not see any visible change.
