1. Run Error Checking
Entry: Formulas tab → Error Checking
- Open the spreadsheet file that you want to review.
- Click the Formulas tab at the top of the window.
- Click Error Checking.
- Wait while WPS scans formulas across the worksheet.
- Review the reported error reason and correct the related formula as needed.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: After the scan finishes, you see an error prompt or a checking result.
- Next action available: You can revise the formula and run another check if needed.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If the current worksheet does not contain formulas, the check may not return useful results.

2. Customize Checking Rules
Entry: File menu → Spreadsheet Preferences → Error Checking
- Click the File menu in the upper-left corner.
- Select Spreadsheet Preferences.
- Open the Error Checking tab.
- Set the display color for error prompts.
- Select or clear the rules that you want WPS to check.
- Click OK to save the settings.

3. Detect Circular References
Entry: Formulas tab → arrow next to Error Checking → Circular References
- When you enter a formula and a circular reference exists, review the warning message first.
- Close the warning and click the Formulas tab.
- Click the arrow next to Error Checking.
- Check whether Circular References is available.
- If it is available, click it to jump to the related cell.
- Edit the formula and check again to confirm that the circular reference is removed.

- Interface result: When a circular reference exists, the menu entry is available and can jump to the related cell.
- Next action available: After locating the cell, you can edit the formula and verify the result again.
