1. Add an underline from the ribbon
Entry point: Edit tab → Edit Content → Underline button
- Open the PDF file that you want to edit.
- Click the Edit tab on the top menu bar.
- Click Edit Content to enter text editing mode.
- Select the text that you want to underline.
- Click the Underline button (the U icon) on the toolbar.

- If the button is unavailable, make sure you have entered Edit Content mode and selected text first.

2. Add an underline from the floating toolbar
Entry point: Floating toolbar that appears after selecting text in Edit Content mode → Underline button
- Open the PDF and enter Edit Content mode.
- Select the text that you want to underline.
- In the floating toolbar that appears near the selected text, click the Underline button (the U icon).
Success Criteria
- The selected text is underlined immediately.
- You can continue working on nearby text without switching panels.
- The floating toolbar remains available for other text formatting actions.
Tips While Using
- If the floating toolbar does not appear, reselect the text or confirm that you are in text editing mode.
- This method is useful for repeated edits on short text segments.
- If the document is protected, related editing buttons may be unavailable.
3. Use a keyboard shortcut to add or remove an underline
Entry point: Keyboard shortcut Ctrl+U
- Open the PDF and enter text editing mode.
- Select the text that you want to format.
- Press Ctrl+U to add an underline.
- Press Ctrl+U again if you want to remove the underline.
Success Criteria
- After the first action, the selected text is underlined.
- After the second action, the underline is removed.
- You can switch formatting without leaving the keyboard.
