What should I do if the Shape button is grayed out?

  1. Make sure the file you opened is a PDF.

How do I draw a perfect square or circle?

  1. Select a rectangle or ellipse shape first.
  2. Press and hold Shift.
  3. Drag the mouse to draw the shape.
  4. Release the mouse to create a proportion-constrained shape.

Can I add text inside a shape?

  1. Insert a shape in the PDF.
  2. Double-click the shape.
  3. Type the text you want inside the shape.

Why is it harder to edit shapes in a scanned PDF?

  1. Check whether the current PDF page is a scanned page.
  2. Scanned content is usually image-based, so editing can be more limited.
  3. If needed, complete recognition first before continuing with editing.
  4. Then insert shapes based on the page content you want to mark.
