1. Copy formatting with Format Painter

Entry path: Text Edit tab → Format Painter button

  1. Open the PDF file that you want to edit and enter text edit mode.
  2. Select the text that already has the formatting you want.
  3. Click the Format Painter button on the toolbar.
  4. When the cursor changes to a brush shape, drag over the text that should receive the formatting.
  5. Release the mouse button to apply the copied formatting.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The cursor changes to a brush shape after Format Painter is enabled.
  • Next action available: The target text shows the same formatting as the source text.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you do not select source text first, Format Painter may not work as expected.
  • Permissions or membership: PDF text editing and this feature require membership.
  • Environment limits: If the PDF contains scanned text that is not directly editable, run OCR first and then try again.

2. Apply formatting continuously with a double-click

Entry path: Text Edit tab → double-click the Format Painter button

  1. Open the PDF file and enter text edit mode.
  2. Select the text that already has the formatting you want.
  3. Double-click the Format Painter button to keep it active.
  4. Select each target text area in turn to apply the same formatting repeatedly.
  5. Press Esc, or click the Format Painter button again, to exit continuous mode.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: Format Painter stays active until you exit it manually.
  • Next action available: You can apply the same text formatting to multiple locations.
