How-to Guide

1. Clear text formatting

Entry point: Text Edit tab → Clear Formatting button

  1. Open the PDF file that you want to edit.
  2. Enter Text Edit mode.
  3. Select the text whose formatting you want to remove.
  4. Click the Clear Formatting button in the toolbar (eraser icon).
  5. Wait for the selected text formatting to be removed while the text content remains.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The selected text no longer shows its previous font styling, color, or emphasis effects.
  • Next actions: You can apply new formatting to the text or continue editing other content.

Tips While Using

  • Membership: This feature requires membership access for PDF editing.
  • Common mistakes: If no text is selected, the Clear Formatting button may not work as expected.
  • Environment limits: You need to enter Text Edit mode first. For scanned PDFs, OCR may be needed before the text can be edited.

2. Review the cleared result

  1. After clearing formatting, review the current appearance of the selected text.
  2. Check whether bold, italics, underlines, and font colors have been removed.
  3. Check whether line spacing, character spacing, indentation, and other paragraph-related formatting have been cleared.
  4. Confirm that the text content itself has not been deleted or changed.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The text appears as plain text without the previous formatting.
  • Next actions: You can undo the change, apply new formatting, or save the file.

Tips While Using

  • Membership: Reviewing the result usually depends on the membership-based editing step before it.
  • Common mistakes: If the target text was not selected first, it may be difficult to confirm the exact cleared range.
  • Environment limits: Use Undo right away if you want to restore the previous appearance.
