How-to Guide
1. Add an Area Highlight
Entry: Comment tab → Area Highlight
- Open the PDF file that you want to annotate.
- Click the Comment tab on the top menu bar.
- Click Area Highlight.
- Hold down the left mouse button and drag over the region that you want to highlight.
- Release the mouse button to finish the area highlight.
Success Criteria
- Visual result: A new highlighted region appears on the page.
- Next action available: You can continue adding highlights or select the new highlight to change its color or delete it.
Tips While Using
- Membership: PDF editing requires membership permission.
- Common mistake: If Area Highlight is not enabled before dragging, the action may become a normal selection instead.
2. Choose a Highlight Color
Entry: Comment tab → Area Highlight
- Click Area Highlight on the Comment tab.
- Choose the color you want in the color picker.
- Select from Auto, Theme Colors, Standard Colors, Other Colors, or Eyedropper as needed.
- Return to the PDF page and drag to create the highlight region.
Success Criteria
- Visual result: The new area highlight appears in the selected color.
- Next action available: You can continue adding multiple highlights with the current color.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If you start dragging before choosing a color, the highlight uses the current default color.

3. Change a Highlight Color
Entry: Click an existing highlight
- Click an existing highlighted region in the PDF page.
- Click the Color button on the floating toolbar.
- Select a new highlight color.
- Check whether the highlight on the page has updated.

- Visual result: The existing highlight changes to the new color.
- Next action available: You can continue adjusting the colors of other highlights.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If the highlight is not selected first, the floating toolbar does not appear.

4. Delete a Highlight
Entry: Right-click an existing highlight
- Right-click the highlighted region in the PDF page.
- Select Delete from the menu.
- Confirm that the highlight has been removed from the page.

- Next action available: You can add a new area highlight again if needed.

- Common mistake: If you right-click outside the highlighted region, the delete menu may not appear.
