How-to Guide
1. Set markup display types
Entry path: Review tab → Show Markup
- Click the Review tab on the top menu bar.
- Click the Show Markup drop-down button.
- Select the markup types you want to display.
- Choose from Comments, Revision Options, Insertions and Deletions, Formatting, Reviewers, and Use Balloons as needed.
Success Criteria
- Selected markup types appear in the document.
- Cleared markup types are hidden.
Tips While Using
- If the document does not contain that type of review content, the view may not change noticeably.
- These display settings do not change the original document content.
2. Filter reviewer markup
Entry path: Review tab → Show Markup → Reviewers
- Click the Review tab.
- Click Show Markup, then Reviewers.
- Select the reviewer whose markup you want to display.
- To show everything again, select All Reviewers.
Success Criteria
- The document shows only the selected reviewer’s markup, or returns to showing all reviewers.
Tips While Using
- This is most useful when the document contains edits from multiple reviewers.
3. Change markup display status
Entry path: Review → Display for Review
- Click the Display for Review drop-down menu.
- Select the display status you need.
- Switch among Final Showing Markup, Original Showing Markup, Final, and Original.
Success Criteria
- The document view updates to show content with markup or without markup based on the selected status.
Tips While Using
- When you choose Final or Original, markup is hidden, but the revision data itself is not removed.
4. Show or hide specific markup
Entry path: Review tab → Show Markup submenu
- Select Comments to show or hide comments.
- Select Insertions and Deletions to show or hide revisions.
- Select Formatting to show or hide formatting changes.
- Click Use Balloons to adjust how revisions are displayed and whether reviewer names and revision times are shown.
Success Criteria
- Each markup type follows the selected show or hide state.
- Balloon display changes according to the selected setting.
Tips While Using
- Different markup types can be controlled separately to simplify the review view.
