1. Turn on Select & Translate

Entry path: Review tab → Select & Translate

  1. Open a WPS Writer document.
  2. Click the Review tab on the top menu bar.
  3. Click Select & Translate to turn on the feature.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The Select & Translate feature is turned on.
  • What you can do next: You can select text and continue with translation.

Tips While Using

  • Use this feature inside a WPS Writer document.
  • Translation results require an internet connection.

2. Translate selected text

Entry path: Task pane on the right → Translate

  1. Select the word, phrase, or sentence you want to translate.
  2. Choose Translate from the floating toolbar, or click Translate in the task pane on the right.
  3. View the translation result in the floating window or sidebar.
  4. Copy the translated text or insert it into the document if needed.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The translation result appears in a floating window or sidebar.
  • What you can do next: You can copy the translation or insert it into the current document.

Tips While Using

  • Very short selections or recognition issues may affect the result.
  • Review important translations manually before final use.

3. Set translation languages

Entry path: Translation window

  1. Select the source language in the translation window.
  2. Select the target language, such as Chinese or English.
  3. Run the translation with the current language settings.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The selected languages are shown in the translation window.
  • What you can do next: Future translations use the current language settings.

Tips While Using

  • Language settings directly affect translation output.
  • If auto-detection is not correct, switch the source language manually.

4. Adjust more translation settings

Entry path: ... icon at the top of the translation window

  1. Click the ... icon at the top of the translation window.
  2. Open the additional settings panel.
  3. Turn Word Definitions on or off as needed.
  4. Change the translation engine if needed.
  5. Adjust the font size in the translation interface.
  6. View translation history sessions.
  7. Turn Trigger translation on file word selection on or off in Translation Settings.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: Additional settings open and can be adjusted normally.
  • What you can do next: Updated settings affect later translation display and trigger behavior.

Tips While Using

  • Different settings change the reading and translation experience.
  • If you want fewer automatic triggers, turn off selection-triggered translation.
