1. Turn Revision On

Entry path: Review tab → Revision

  1. Open a WPS Writer document.
  2. Click the Review tab on the top menu bar.
  3. Click Revision to turn Revision on.
  4. Confirm that the button is highlighted.
  5. Continue editing the document, and later changes will be recorded.

Success Criteria

  • The Revision button is turned on.
  • New insertions, deletions, or formatting changes begin to appear as revision marks.

Tips While Using

  • Turn Revision on before making a large set of edits.
  • If the button is not highlighted, later edits will not be recorded.

2. Turn Revision Off

Entry path: Review tab → Revision

  1. Open a document where Revision is already enabled.
  2. Click Revision on the Review tab.
  3. Confirm that the button returns to its normal state.
  4. Continue editing, and new content will no longer be recorded as revisions.

Success Criteria

  • The Revision button is no longer highlighted.
  • New edits made after turning it off do not appear as new revision marks.

Tips While Using

  • Turning Revision off does not remove existing revision records.
  • Turn it on again if you need to continue tracking changes.

3. View Revision Content

Entry path: Revision marks in the document

  1. Open a document that contains revision records.
  2. Check inserted content shown with colored underlines in the document body.
  3. Check deleted content shown with strikethrough or in the revision box.
  4. Review formatting changes in the revision area on the right.
  5. Check reviewer information at the related revision location.

Success Criteria

  • You can distinguish insertions, deletions, and formatting changes.
  • You can identify related reviewer information at the revision location.

Tips While Using

  • If marks are not visible in the current view, change the display mode first.
  • For long documents, review the revision area section by section.

4. Change the Revision Display Mode

Entry path: ReviewDisplay for Review

  1. Click the Review tab.
  2. Open the Display for Review drop-down menu.
  3. Select the display mode you need.
  4. Switch among Final Showing Markup, Original Showing Markup, Final, and Original.
  5. Return to the document and check the current display result.

Success Criteria

  • The document displays revision content in the selected mode.
  • You can switch views based on the review task.

Tips While Using

  • Changing the display mode only affects how revisions are shown and does not remove revision records.
  • Confirm the current view before reviewing to avoid misreading the document state.

5. Open Revision Options

Entry path: Review tab → Revision drop-down menu → Revision Options

  1. Click the Review tab.
  2. Open the Revision drop-down menu.
  3. Click Revision Options.
  4. Adjust the revision display content in the options window.
  5. Change color settings and related options as needed.

Success Criteria

  • The Revision Options window opens.
  • The updated display settings fit the current review task.

Tips While Using

  • Check your team’s review habits before changing shared display preferences.
  • Color changes affect how different revision types are identified.

6. Review with Others

Entry path: Review tab → Revision drop-down menu → Review with Others

  1. Click the Review tab.
  2. Open the Revision drop-down menu.
  3. Click Review with Others.
  4. Wait for WPS Writer to switch to online mode.
  5. Share the document link with other users and invite them to join the review.

Success Criteria

  • The document enters an online collaboration state.
  • Other users can be invited through a document link to review together.

Tips While Using

  • This action requires an internet connection.
  • Confirm that invited users have access permission before sharing.
