1. Insert a Comment

Entry path: Review tab → Comment → Insert Comment

  1. Select the text that you want to comment on.
  2. Click the Review tab.
  3. Click Insert Comment.
  4. Type your comment in the comment box on the right.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: A new comment box appears on the right and shows your comment text.
  • What you can do next: You can reply to, resolve, or delete the comment.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If you do not select text first, the comment position may not match what you expected.

2. Reply to a Comment

Entry path: Side drop-down button on the comment box (☰)

  1. Click the side drop-down button (☰) on an existing comment box.
  2. Click Reply.
  3. Type your reply to continue the discussion.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: A reply appears under the original comment.
  • What you can do next: You can continue replying or manage the comment thread.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Make sure you are working on an existing comment before you try to reply.

3. Resolve a Comment

Entry path: Side drop-down button on the comment box (☰)

  1. Click the side drop-down button (☰) on an existing comment box.
  2. Click Resolve.
  3. The comment is marked as resolved. Click again if you need to cancel the resolved status.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The comment thread changes to a resolved state.
  • What you can do next: You can restore it later if the discussion needs to continue.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Resolving a comment changes its status, but it does not delete the comment content.

4. Delete a Comment

Entry path: Review tab → Comment → Delete Comment

  1. Click the comment that you want to remove.
  2. Click Delete Comment to remove the current comment.
  3. If you need batch cleanup, click the drop-down arrow next to Delete Comment.
  4. Choose Delete Current Comment or Delete All Comments in Document.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The deleted comment no longer appears in the document.
  • What you can do next: You can continue reviewing other comments or insert a new one.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Before using Delete All Comments in Document, confirm that you no longer need the discussion history.

5. Show or Hide Comments

Entry path: Review tab → Show Markup → Comments

  1. Click the Show Markup drop-down menu.
  2. Select or clear the Comments option.
  3. Check whether the comment display in the document has updated.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: Comments are shown or hidden based on your setting.
  • What you can do next: You can switch between reading the main text and reviewing comments.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: Hiding comments only changes visibility. It does not remove comment content.
