How-to Guide

1. Start AI Spell Check

Entry path: Review > AI Spell Check > AI Spell Check

1. Open a document in WPS Writer.
2. Click the Review tab on the top menu bar.
3. Click AI Spell Check.
4. Select AI Spell Check from the drop-down list.
5. Wait for the system to scan the document automatically.

Success Criteria

• Interface result: the spell check panel opens and starts showing progress or results.
• What you can do next: continue reviewing issue details, suggestions, and related settings.

Tips While Using

• Membership: this feature requires WPS membership.
• Environment: an internet connection is required.
• Scope: it is more suitable for foreign-language document spelling review.

2. Review Check Results

Entry path: Spell Check dialog

1. After the scan finishes, review the words highlighted in red in the document.
2. Check the current issue details in the dialog.
3. Review the suggestion list provided by the system.
4. Switch languages if needed.
5. Turn AI assistance on or off if needed.

Success Criteria

• Interface result: the current issue, suggested words, and related controls appear in the checking panel.
• What you can do next: continue with correction, ignore, or dictionary-related actions.

Tips While Using

• Common issue: if scanning is still in progress, wait until results finish loading before handling items.
• Environment: unstable network conditions may slow result loading.

3. Handle Spelling Issues

Entry path: Spell Check dialog action buttons

1. Select a suggested word and click Correct to fix the current issue.
2. Click Correct All to fix all identical issues in the document at once.
3. Click Ignore to skip the current issue.
4. Click Add to Dictionary to save a correct word to the dictionary.

Success Criteria

• Interface result: the current issue is corrected, skipped, or added to the dictionary.
• What you can do next: the system moves to the next issue until checking is complete.

Tips While Using

• Common issue: before using Correct All, confirm that the suggestion fits every identical issue.
• Dictionary maintenance: after a word is added to the dictionary, the same word is less likely to be flagged again.

4. Adjust Spell Check Settings

Entry path: Review > AI Spell Check > AI Spell Check; settings icon in the checking panel

1. Click Review > AI Spell Check > AI Spell Check to open the spell check panel.
2. Click the settings icon (☰) in the panel on the right.
3. Click Add Language to set spell check languages, with support for up to three languages.
4. Adjust spell check options as needed.
5. Turn the following items on or off as needed: Check spelling as you type, Show ignored spelling errors in the document, Always suggest corrections, Ignore words in UPPERCASE, Ignore words with numbers, Ignore Internet or network paths, and Custom Dictionary.

Success Criteria

• Interface result: the settings are updated for the current checking needs.
• What you can do next: later checks follow the updated languages and rules.

Tips While Using

• Language limit: up to three languages can be configured.
• Checking strategy: for documents with many terms, numbers, or URLs, combine ignore rules to reduce interruptions.
