How-to Guide
1. Insert a Page Break
Entry: Insert → Arrow below Page Break → Page Break
- Place the cursor where you want the new page to begin.
- Click the Insert tab.
- Click the arrow below the Page Break button.
- Select Page Break from the drop-down menu.
Success Criteria
- Content after the cursor starts on a new page.
- Existing document content remains unchanged except for the page split.
Tips While Using
- A page break changes the page position only and does not create a new section.
- If you need different headers or footers, use a section break instead.
2. Insert a Next-Page Section Break
Entry: Insert → Arrow below Page Break
- Place the cursor where the new section should begin.
- Click the Insert tab.
- Click the arrow below the Page Break button.
- Select Next Page Section Break from the drop-down menu.
Success Criteria
- A new section starts on the following page.
- The sections before and after the break can use different page settings.
Tips While Using
- This option works well for formal documents where each chapter starts on a new page.
- You can continue by setting different page numbers, headers, or footers for the new section.
3. Insert a Continuous Section Break
Entry: Insert → Arrow below Page Break
- Place the cursor where the new section should begin.
- Click the Insert tab.
- Click the arrow below the Page Break button.
- Select Continuous Section Break from the drop-down menu.
Success Criteria
- A new section starts on the same page.
- The document does not move to a new page, but the new section can use different formatting.
Tips While Using
- This is useful when you want to adjust layout within the same page.
- If editing marks are visible, it is easier to confirm the section break position.
4. Insert an Odd-Page or Even-Page Section Break
Entry: Insert → Arrow below Page Break
- Place the cursor where the new section should begin.
- Click the Insert tab.
- Click the arrow below the Page Break button.
- Select Odd Page Section Break or Even Page Section Break based on your layout needs.
Success Criteria
- The new section starts on the next matching odd-numbered or even-numbered page.
- The page sequence follows booklet or formal layout requirements.
Tips While Using
- WPS may skip a page automatically to satisfy the odd-page or even-page condition.
- This is useful for documents that require chapter openings on specific page parity.
