Tips While Using

  • When you use Ctrl+A, make sure the cursor focus is inside the table.
  • Non-contiguous selection is useful for partial formatting changes.

2. Adjust row height and column width

  1. Select the cells, rows, columns, or table that you want to adjust.
  2. Drag row borders or column borders for manual adjustment.
  3. If exact sizing is needed, enter values in Table Tools.
  4. If automatic sizing is needed, use AutoFit based on content or window width.

Success Criteria

  • Row height or column width changes as expected.
  • Table content is displayed more clearly and the layout is more even.

Tips While Using

  • AutoFit is useful for quick cleanup when a table contains a lot of content.

Tips While Using

  • Confirm the target position before inserting multiple rows or columns.

4. Merge and split cells

  1. Select adjacent cells that you want to merge.
  2. Click Merge Cells.

Tips While Using

  1. Select the row or rows that should act as the table header, usually the first row.
  2. Open the Table Tools tab.

Success Criteria

  • The same header appears at the top of each page when the table spans multiple pages.

Tips While Using

  • Check page preview after changing the setting.

Tips While Using

  • For more complex formulas, confirm the reference range before applying the formula.

8. Convert tables to text, erase borders, and draw diagonal lines

Entry: Use Convert to Text, Eraser, or Draw Table in Table Tools.
