1. Apply Highlight

Entry point: Select the text you want to mark → Home tab → the drop-down arrow next to Highlight

  1. Select the text you want to highlight.
  2. Click the Home tab.
  3. Click the drop-down arrow next to Highlight.
  4. Select the color you want.
  5. The selected text is shown with the chosen highlight color.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: The selected text shows the highlight color you chose.
  • What you can do next: You can keep editing, copy the text, or switch to another highlight color.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: If no text is selected first, the target content may not be highlighted as expected.

2. Highlight Find Results

Entry point: Home tab → Find and Replace → enter the search content → Highlight drop-down list → Highlight All

  1. Press Control + F to open the Find panel.
  2. Enter the content you want to find.
  3. Click Highlight.
  4. Select Highlight All.
  5. All matched content in the document is highlighted.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: Matching text across the document appears highlighted.

  • Common mistake: If you enter a keyword but do not choose Highlight All, the panel stays in search mode only.

3. Clear Highlight

  2. Click the Home tab.
  3. Click the drop-down arrow next to Highlight.
  4. Select No Color.
  5. The text returns to normal display without highlight.
