Entry path: Object Properties → Text Options → Text Box
- Select the text box you want to adjust, or select the text inside the text box.
- Click the Object Properties tab in the side task pane.
- Open the Text Options tab, then open Text Box settings.
- Click the Text Margin drop-down list and choose No Margin, Narrow Margin, Standard Margin, Wide Margin, Extra Wide Margin, or Custom Margin.
- If you choose Custom Margin, enter values for the left, right, top, and bottom margins.
- Check whether the text inside the text box reflows based on the new margin settings.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The distance between the text and the text box edges changes.
- Next action available: You can continue editing text, move the text box, or save the presentation.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If the text box is not selected first, the related text box settings may not appear in the task pane.
- Environment note: Margin values are measured in centimeters and affect the layout of all text inside the selected text box.
2. Set text margins from the right-click menu
Entry path: Right-click menu → Format Object → Text Options → Text Box
- Select the text box or the text inside it.
- Right-click the object to open the shortcut menu.
- Select Format Object to open the object formatting panel.
- Open the Text Options tab and then the Text Box section.
- Find the Text Margin area and enter the top, bottom, left, and right margin values you need.
- Confirm the result and check whether the text now displays with the updated margins.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The margin values in the formatting panel are updated, and the text box display changes accordingly.
- Next action available: You can continue fine-tuning the values or close the panel and return to editing.
Tips While Using
- Common mistake: If you right-click a blank area instead of the text box object, the object formatting entry may not appear.
- Environment note: Text margins are set separately for each text box and do not sync automatically to other text boxes.
