1. Apply Superscript

Entry point: Tools → Home → Superscript

  1. Select the text you want to format as superscript.
  2. Tap Tools at the bottom or side of the screen.
  3. Open the Home tab.
  4. Tap the Superscript button, usually shown as .
  5. The selected text changes to superscript immediately.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: the selected text appears above the normal text line and usually becomes smaller.
  • Next actions: you can keep typing, editing, copying, or saving the document.
  • No side effects: unselected text does not change to superscript.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: if you do not select text first, the button may not affect the intended content.
  • Environment limits: the document must be in an editable state.

2. Apply Subscript

Entry point: Tools → Home → More formatting options → Subscript

  1. Select the text you want to format as subscript.
  2. Tap Tools.
  3. Open the Home tab.
  4. Find the subscript button. If it is not shown directly, continue in the related formatting options.
  5. Tap the Subscript button, usually shown as x₂.
  6. The selected text changes to subscript immediately.
