1. Insert a Text Box from the Ribbon

Entry point: Insert tab → Text Box

  1. Click the Insert tab on the top menu bar.
  2. Click Text Box.
  3. Select Horizontal Text Box or Vertical Text Box.
  4. Drag on the slide to draw the text box.
  5. Type your text.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: A new text box appears on the slide, and you can see the text cursor or the text you entered.
  • Next actions: You can continue to move or resize the text box, or keep typing.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If you do not drag inside the slide editing area, the text box may not be created in the expected position.
  • Environment limits: Open a presentation first and make sure it is in editing mode.

2. Insert a Text Box from the Home Tab

Entry point: Home tab → Text Box

  1. Click the Home tab on the top menu bar.
  2. Click Text Box.
  3. Select a text box type.
  4. Draw the text box on the slide.
  5. Enter the text you want to display.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: An editable text box area appears on the current slide.
  • Next actions: You can continue to set the text content and adjust the text box position.

  • Common mistakes: If the current slide is not selected first, it may be harder to confirm where the text box was inserted.
