How-to Guide

1. Turn on Brush

Entry point: Review → Brush

  1. Open the presentation file you want to present.
  2. Click the Review tab on the top menu bar.
  3. Click Brush to turn on Brush mode.
  4. When Brush-related tools appear in the ribbon, you can start annotating.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: Brush-related tools appear, and the pointer enters a drawable state.
  • Next actions: You can choose a brush type, set a color, and start drawing.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If no presentation is open first, you may not reach the intended slide annotation workflow.
  • Environment limits: It is recommended to do this after the presentation file opens normally.

2. Choose a Brush Type

Entry point: Review → Brush → Brush toolbar

  1. Turn on Brush first.
  2. Check the available tools in the Brush toolbar at the top.
  3. Select Select Mode, Ballpoint Pen, Highlighter, Watercolor Pen, Shapes, or Eraser as needed.
  4. Test the selected tool on the page or use it directly.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The selected tool is highlighted.
  • Next actions: You can draw, select, or erase based on the tool you chose.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If you do not switch tools first, the previous brush type may still be active.

3. Set Brush Colors

Entry point: Review → Brush → Brush toolbar

  1. Turn on Brush and choose the brush type you want to use.
  2. Click the color selector.
  3. Choose a preset color or use the color picker.
  4. Return to the page and continue drawing.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The selected color is applied to the current brush.
  • Next actions: New strokes appear in the selected color.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If you change the color after drawing, the new color usually affects only later strokes.

4. Draw with Brush

Entry point: Editing area or slideshow page

  1. Confirm that Brush is on and that the tool and color are already set.
  2. Move the pointer to the area you want to annotate.
  3. Hold down the left mouse button to draw.
  4. Release the mouse button to finish the current stroke.
  5. Repeat as needed to add more strokes.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: Strokes or shapes appear on the page in the selected color and style.
  • Next actions: You can keep annotating, switch tools, or erase content.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If Brush mode is not on, dragging the mouse may perform a normal selection instead of drawing.

5. Exit Brush Mode

Entry point: Brush → Close, or press Esc

  1. After finishing your annotation, click Close in the Brush tools.
  2. Or press Esc to exit Brush mode.
  3. Confirm that the pointer returns to normal selection mode.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: Brush drawing mode ends, and the pointer returns to normal selection mode.
  • Next actions: You can continue with normal presentation or editing actions.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistakes: If you do not exit Brush mode, later clicks and drags may still create ink marks.
