1. View the current slide
Entry point: the editing workspace in the center of the window
- Open WPS Slides and enter the presentation editing view.
- In the thumbnail pane on the left, click any slide.
- Check the center area of the window and confirm that it shows the currently selected slide.
- Continue with typing, dragging, or selecting objects on that slide.
Success Criteria
- UI state: The center of the window shows the full content of the selected slide.
- Next actions: You can select objects or enter content directly on the current slide.
Tips While Using
- Common mistakes: If you do not select a slide in the left thumbnail pane first, you may still be editing the previous slide.
2. Enter content in a placeholder
Entry point: the title or content placeholder on the current slide
- Open the slide you want to edit in the Editing Area.
- Click the title placeholder or content placeholder.
- When the cursor appears in the placeholder, type the title or body text.
- Click a blank area on the slide to confirm the text stays on the current slide.
Success Criteria
- UI state: The placeholder shows the newly entered text.
- Next actions: You can continue editing text formatting or switch to another object.
Tips While Using
- Common mistakes: If you click outside the placeholder border, you may select the object instead of entering text-edit mode.
3. Drag to move and resize an object
Entry point: a picture, shape, text box, or other object in the Editing Area
- In the Editing Area, click the object you want to adjust.
- Hold and drag the object to the target position to update the slide layout.
- Drag a sizing handle on the object border to change its size.
- Release the mouse and check whether the object is in the right position and size.
Success Criteria
- UI state: The object appears in a new position or with a new size on the slide.
- Next actions: You can continue arranging other objects on the page.
Tips While Using
- Common mistakes: If the object is not selected first, dragging may not move or resize it.
4. Use the right-click shortcut menu
Entry point: the right-click menu on an object or a blank area in the Editing Area
- Select an object in the Editing Area, or move the pointer to the target area on the slide.
- Right-click.
- Review the available commands in the shortcut menu.
- Choose the command you need to continue editing the current slide.
