How-to Guide
1. Insert a formula from the ribbon
Entry point: Insert tab → Equation button
- Click the Insert tab on the top menu bar.
- Click the drop-down arrow next to Equation.
- Select a preset equation, or click Insert New Equation.
- Enter the formula content in the formula editor.
- Click outside the editor to finish inserting the formula.
Success Criteria
- A new equation object appears on the current slide.
- The formula can be selected and edited again.
Tips While Using
- After choosing a preset equation, you can still change variables and symbols.
- When you click outside the editor, the formula remains on the slide as an object.
2. Enter a formula with LaTeX syntax
Entry point: Insert tab → Equation → LaTeX
- Open the Equation drop-down menu on the Insert tab.
- Select LaTeX from the formula options.
- Type the formula syntax in the LaTeX editor.
- Review the displayed result.
- Click Insert to place it on the slide.
Success Criteria
- The LaTeX input is converted into a visible equation.
- The equation is inserted into the current slide.
Tips While Using
- Check that the LaTeX syntax is complete before inserting.
- For complex expressions, review the result in parts so adjustments are easier.
3. Edit a formula with the formula editor
Entry point: Formula editor toolbar
- After inserting a formula, double-click it on the slide to open the editor.
- Use the symbols and templates on the toolbar.
- Enter or revise the mathematical expression.
- Click outside the editor to finish editing.
Success Criteria
- The inserted formula content is updated.
- The revised formula displays normally on the current slide.
Tips While Using
- Double-click an existing formula to enter editing mode again.
- After editing, check whether the size and position fit the current slide layout.
