How-to Guide
1. Add a Web Link
Entry: Insert → Hyperlink
- Select the text or object that you want to link.
- Click Insert on the top menu bar.
- Click Hyperlink.
- In the Existing File or Web Page tab, enter the URL.
- Click OK to finish.
Success Criteria
- The selected text or object is linked to a web address.
- Clicking the link during editing or presenting opens the target page.
Tips While Using
- It is recommended to enter the full address, including
https://.- Opening a web link requires internet access.
2. Add a Document Link
Entry: Insert → Hyperlink → Existing File or Web Page
- Select the text or object that you want to link.
- Open the Hyperlink dialog box.
- In Existing File or Web Page, browse for and select the target document.
- Click OK.
Success Criteria
- The selected text or object is linked to the chosen file.
- Clicking the link opens the target document.
Tips While Using
- If the target file is moved, the link may stop working.
- When sharing the presentation, make sure the linked file is also accessible.
3. Link to a Place in This Document
Entry: Insert → Hyperlink → Place in This Document
- Select the text or object that you want to link.
- Open the Hyperlink dialog box.
- Select Place in This Document.
- Choose the target slide.
- Click OK.
Success Criteria
- Clicking the link jumps to the selected slide in the current presentation.
- The setup works well for table-of-contents slides, return buttons, or section navigation.
Tips While Using
- After changing the slide order, check whether the jump target is still correct.
- This method is useful for interactive presentation navigation.
4. Add an Email Link
Entry: Insert → Hyperlink
- Select the text or object that you want to link.
- Open the Hyperlink dialog box.
- Enter the email address in email-link format.
- Click OK to save.
Success Criteria
- Clicking the link opens the default mail app on the device.
- A new message window can show the target email address automatically.
Tips While Using
- Email links usually use the
mailto:format.- A usable mail app should already be configured on the Mac.
5. Remove a Hyperlink
Entry: Right-click the linked text or object
- Select the text or object that already has a hyperlink.
- Right-click the selected content.
- Choose Remove Hyperlink.
Success Criteria
- The original jump target is removed.
- The text or object remains, but it no longer opens a link.
Tips While Using
- Before removing a link, confirm that the jump entry is no longer needed.
- If only the target changes, you can edit the link instead of removing it.
