How-to Guide
1. Show or hide gridlines
Feature entry: View → Gridlines
- Open the presentation you want to edit.
- Click the View tab at the top.
- Find the Gridlines checkbox.
- Select it to show gridlines, or clear it to hide gridlines.

- Interface result: Regular grid aids appear or disappear in the slide editing area.

- Gridlines are editing aids and do not appear during slide show playback.
2. Show or hide guides
Feature entry: View → Guides
- Open the presentation and go to the editing canvas.
- Click the View tab at the top.
- Find the Guides checkbox.
- Select it to show guides, or clear it to hide guides.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: Horizontal and vertical guides appear or disappear on the slide.
- Next action available: You can place text boxes, images, or shapes around the guides.

- Guides are useful for center alignment, margins, and local layout control.
3. Adjust Grid and Guides settings
Feature entry: View → Grid and Guides
- Click the View tab.
- Click Grid and Guides.
- In the dialog box, adjust the options you need:
- Snap objects to grid.
- Spacing.
- Display grid on screen.
- Display drawing guides on screen.
- Display smart guides when shapes are aligned.
- Objects move with guides.
- Click OK to save the settings.

- Interface result: The dialog box closes and the selected display or alignment settings take effect.

Tips While Using
- After you change spacing, the grid density changes as well, which can help with either coarse or fine layout work.
4. Add guides from the right-click menu
Feature entry: Right-click a blank area on the slide → Grid and Guides
- Right-click a blank area of the slide.
- Find the Grid and Guides entry or its expanded menu.
- Select Add Vertical Guide or Add Horizontal Guide as needed.
- Turn guide, smart guide, or gridline display options on or off if needed.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: A new guide appears in the selected direction, or the related display state changes.
- Next action available: You can drag the new guide for positioning.
Tips While Using
- This shortcut is useful when you want to add guides quickly without switching back to the top ribbon.
5. Drag guides to a new position
Feature entry: Show guides first, then drag directly
- Make sure guides are already visible on the slide.
- Move the pointer onto a guide.
- When the pointer changes to a draggable state, hold the guide and drag it.
- Release the mouse when the guide reaches the position you want.

- Interface result: The guide moves to a new position.
- Next action available: You can continue arranging objects around the updated guide position.
