How-to Guide
1. Show or hide gridlines
Feature entry: View → Gridlines
- Open WPS Presentation and go to the slide you want to edit.
- Click the View tab at the top of the window.
- Find the Gridlines checkbox.
- Select it to show gridlines, or clear it to hide gridlines.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: Regular gridlines appear in or disappear from the slide editing area.
- What you can do next: You can continue inserting, moving, and aligning objects.
Tips While Using
- Gridlines are mainly used to observe object positions while editing.
- Gridlines are visual aids and do not become part of the presentation content itself.
2. Show or hide guides
Feature entry: View → Guides
- Open the presentation you want to edit.
- Click the View tab at the top of the window.
- Find the Guides checkbox.
- Select it to show guides, or clear it to hide guides.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: Guides appear in or disappear from the editing area.
- What you can do next: You can place text boxes, pictures, or shapes based on the guides.
Tips While Using
- Guides are useful for setting page margins, title lines, or content-area references.
3. Set grid and guide options
Feature entry: View → Show → Grid and Guides
- Click the View tab.
- Click Grid and Guides.
- In the dialog box, set options as needed, such as align objects to grid, spacing, display grid on screen, display drawing guides on screen, show smart guides when aligning shapes, and move objects with guides.
- Click OK to save the settings.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The display state of the grid or guides changes after the settings are applied.
- What you can do next: You can observe updated alignment assistance when moving objects.
Tips While Using
- After you change spacing, the grid density changes as well.
- For more precise layout work, set guides first and then move objects.
4. Add or manage grid and guides from the right-click menu
Feature entry: Right-click a blank slide area → Grid and Guides
- Right-click a blank area on the slide.
- Find the entry related to Grid and Guides.
- Turn options on or off as needed, such as add vertical guide, add horizontal guide, guides, smart guides, and gridlines.
- Return to the editing area and check the result.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: Newly added guides or updated display states take effect immediately.
- What you can do next: You can drag the new guides directly and continue arranging the slide.
Tips While Using
- The right-click entry is useful for quick adjustments during editing without switching back to the top menu repeatedly.
5. Drag guides to adjust position
Feature entry: Show guides first, then drag a guide directly
- Make sure guides are already visible.
- Move the pointer onto a guide.
- When the pointer changes to a draggable state, hold the guide.
- Drag the guide to the position you need, then release the mouse.
Success Criteria
- Interface result: The guide moves to a new position.
- What you can do next: You can reposition objects based on the updated guide location.
Tips While Using
- Before dragging guides, it helps to decide the main content area of the slide first.
- Gridlines and guides are shown in editing mode and do not appear during slideshow playback.
