How-to Guide

1. Open Action Settings from the ribbon

Entry point: Insert tab → Action button

  1. Select the object you want to configure, such as a picture, shape, or text box.
  2. Click the Insert tab on the top menu bar.
  3. Click Action.
  4. In the Action Settings dialog, choose the trigger type you want to use.
  5. Continue by selecting the action type and completing the setup.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The Action Settings dialog opens.
  • Next actions: You can switch between the Mouse Click and Mouse Over tabs to continue setup.

  • Common mistakes: If no object is selected first, the setup may not work as expected.

2. Set a mouse click action

Entry point: Action Settings dialog → Mouse Click tab

  1. Open the Action Settings dialog.
  2. Select the Mouse Click tab.
  3. Choose an action type, such as None, Hyperlink to, Run program, or Play sound.
  4. Configure the details for the selected action.
  5. Click OK to save the setting.

Success Criteria

  • UI state: The object keeps the click-triggered setting.
  • Next actions: You can enter Slide Show mode to test what happens when the object is clicked.

3. Set a mouse over action

Entry point: Action Settings dialog → Mouse Over tab

  1. Open the Action Settings dialog.
  2. Select the Mouse Over tab.
  3. Choose an action type and configure its parameters.
  4. Click OK to finish the setup.

  • UI state: The object keeps the mouse-over setting.
  • Next actions: You can move the pointer over the object in Slide Show mode to test the result.
