1. Freely Rotate a Picture

Entry: the rotation handle above the picture

  1. Select the picture you want to rotate.
  2. Move the pointer to the rotation handle above the picture.
  3. Hold the left mouse button and drag.
  4. Watch the picture rotate with the pointer direction.
  5. Release the mouse button to finish.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: the picture angle changes.
  • What you can do next: you can continue to resize, crop, or move the picture.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: if the picture is not selected first, the rotation handle will not appear.
  • Environment note: hold Shift to rotate in 15-degree increments.

2. Rotate a Picture with Preset Commands

Entry: Picture Tools > Rotate, or Home > Arrange > Rotate

  1. Select the picture.
  2. Click Rotate in the Picture Tools tab, or click Home > Arrange > Rotate.
  3. Choose the preset command you need.
  4. Available commands include Rotate Right 90°, Rotate Left 90°, Flip Vertical, and Flip Horizontal.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: the picture rotates or flips based on the selected preset.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: under the Home tab path, shape and picture rotation entries use similar names, so confirm that the picture is selected.

3. Set an Exact Rotation Angle

Entry: Picture Tools > Size group launcher > Size & Properties > Rotation

  1. Select the picture.
  2. Click the launcher in the lower-right corner of the Size group under Picture Tools.
  3. In the side object properties pane, switch to Size & Properties.
  4. Find the Rotation option.
  5. Enter an exact angle, or fine-tune it with the rotation control.
  6. Preview the result and click a blank area to apply it.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: the picture rotates to the exact angle you entered.
  • What you can do next: you can continue to reuse the same layout on other slides.

Tips While Using

  • Common mistake: after entering an angle, the interface may still stay in edit mode until focus changes.

4. Rotate All Pictures

Entry: Picture Tools > Rotate > Rotate All Pictures

  1. Select any picture.
  2. Click Rotate in the Picture Tools tab.
  3. Select Rotate All Pictures.
  4. Use the batch toolbox to manage rotation for all pictures in the presentation.

Success Criteria

  • Interface result: the batch toolbox opens and shows the rotation management entry for all pictures.
