How-to Index

How-to Guide

1. Apply preset reflections

Entry: Picture Tools tab → Effects → Reflection

  1. Select the picture that you want to edit.
  2. Click the Picture Tools tab.
  3. Click Effects.
  4. Select Reflection.
  5. Choose a preset reflection style.
  6. To remove the reflection, select No Reflection.

Success Criteria

  • The picture shows a mirrored reflection below it, or the reflection disappears after you choose No Reflection.
  • You can continue switching presets or open more settings.

Tips While Using

  • If the picture is not selected first, picture effect options may not appear.
  • Reflection effects use space below the picture, so leave enough room in the layout.

2. Adjust reflection parameters from Picture Tools

Entry: Picture Tools tab → Effects → More Settings → Object Properties → Effects → Reflection

  1. Select the picture that you want to adjust.
  2. Click Effects under the Picture Tools tab.
  3. Click More Settings to open the Object Properties side pane.
  4. Under Effects, click Reflection to expand the settings.
  5. Adjust Transparency to control how visible the reflection is.
  6. Adjust Size to change the reflection scale.
  7. Adjust Blur to control edge softness.
  8. Adjust Distance to change the gap between the picture and the reflection.

Success Criteria

  • The right-side pane shows reflection settings.
  • The reflection updates as you adjust the parameters.

Tips While Using

  • Very large parameter changes can make the reflection look too heavy for the slide.
  • On busy images, the reflection may appear less noticeable.

3. Open reflection settings from the right-click menu

Entry: Right-click picture → Set Object Format

  1. Select the picture and right-click it.
  2. Click Set Object Format.
  3. In the Object Properties pane on the right, click the Effects tab.
  4. Expand Reflection.
  5. Adjust transparency, size, blur, and distance as needed.

Success Criteria

  • The right-side formatting pane opens and shows the reflection settings area.
  • You can complete the adjustment without returning to the top ribbon.

Tips While Using

  • If you right-click outside the picture object, the menu may be different.

4. Open reflection settings from the task pane

Entry: Task pane → Properties button

  1. Select the picture.
  2. Click the Properties button in the right-side task pane.
  3. Click the Effects tab.
  4. Expand Reflection.
  5. Adjust the settings and review the slide result.

Success Criteria

  • The task pane shows the Effects tab and Reflection settings.
  • You can keep the pane open while continuing other slide edits.

Tips While Using

  • If the right-side task pane is collapsed, expand it first before opening properties.
